Following the defection of Cllr John Worrow to the Independants there has been an eruption of bile and vitriol from the direction of Simon Moores on his blog. I could be charitable and put this down to disappointment at losing his Cabinet post and saddness at the Tories losing overall control at TDC, or I could say that it is in fact the true nature of Thanet Tories coming out at last.
Having sat opposite and watched the way they operate in one guise or another more or less continiously since 1979 I think I am qualified to say what their true nature is.
More so than most Tories they seem to think that they are somehow born to rule and the ' we know best ' attitude prevails, this is particularly true of those Tories with an academic or senior management background. It is this superior, supercillious attitude that particularly gets under the skin of the local proletariat. Despite their alleged higher intellect and ability to see things that other mere mortals miss they have failed to see what was happening under their noses. Cllr Worrow is not the only disaffected Tory and I know that several were quite uneasy about the autocratic manner in which Bob Bayford and co ruled Thanet.
And so to the current situation, reading his blog it seems that Simon Moores either has a crystal ball or a bugging device that anticipates future events. For the record IF Clive Hart was even thinking of offerering John Worrow a Cabinet post he would certainally have to get the Labour Groups approval, no such conversation has taken place,
also for the record , Tuesdays Labour Group meeting was to discuss the proposed changes to the budget to be presented to Council, and not the offer of a position to any individual Cllr. In particular parking was discussed and proposals will be put forward at the right time. Some of the figures being bandied about vary wildly and give no confidence in their accuracy. A full and in depth reveiw will be needed with carefully costed proposals that will be fully questioned and scrutinised in depth, unlike the processes that have been followed in the past, Cabinet have been presented with something and just agreed it. The evidence of this is blatantly clear in the reluctance of the Tory Members of Scrutiny Committee to have things investigated in greater depth. Scrutiny Committee also requested additional support to enable it to do its job with greater efficiency. In line with the paranoia that reigned it seemed likely that this request was going to be shunted to one side in case a better resourced Scrutiny found something flawed in a Cabinet proposal.
I know Clive Hart is commited to a more inclusive administration and if that includes Members of other groups well so be it and Simon Moores and others of his ilk should just shut up and get used to life as opposition Councillors and try and be constructive and refrain from the paranoid rantings aimed at those who have found them out.
Day off in Deal Kent a few pictures and some thoughts on painting.

Thank you for making that clear Cllr Harrison. However, I won't hold my breath for an apology from the omniscient one!
Mike.. It's a good effort but do try and read what I actually wrote on my weblog after John joined the thread on parking:
I didn't say that Clive had considered offering John Worrow a role I have simply challenged John to say "Yes" or "No" whether he has asked for one.
Now some people certainly think he has and his silence is rather deafening. "Yes" or "No" back on my weblog where people are looking in with interest will do quite nicely.
Here won't be much good because unless people are using an RSS crawler, they won't know in any numbers that you exist.
Simon re your final comment, you just have to get the final snidy dig in dont you,, I rest my case.
No Mike, simply letting you know that as you have been dormant for so long, it might be difficult to find you.
Anyway, as i have been busy reading Karl Marx of late you just gave me an idea for which I'm grateful.
Did you bother to check what I actually wrote on my weblog or are you happy to stay with what you thought I said?
I think Simon is under-estimating how many people view your blog and enjoy reading your personal views on what is or is not happening around Thanet. If only more councillors would actually come out and say what they really think rather then being kind of muted by "party" interests...
Nice to see you back blogging Mike, and spot on with your analysis of the situation.
Sour grapes really isn't a good look for the local Tories (pretty much on a par with the 'We know better than everyone else' attitude that they usually take)
I am considering making a camplaint against Councillor Moores. He has already had to remove, what I have been told was a libelous remark about a senior councillor, from his blog.
He might being finding it hard to come to terms with the changes at TDC but he needs to understand that its about Thanet, not egos, or how important people are!
Will,, there is absolutely no sour grapes here at all, I am simply exercising my right to push against the political weakness that is quickly becoming visible to anyone enjoying this from the sidelines.
Do please go ahead and 'make a 'camplaint'' John as I would welcome it
As for removing an alleged libellous remark on my weblog, Let's be quite clear here, I am very happy to reinstate it but in the interests of political harmony and on request,, I removed a paragraph that caused some real discomfort to Cllr Hart.
Finally, while I'm sure all parties would prefer to ignore Cllr Worrow, he still has not answered my earlier and very simple 'Yes' or 'No' question which remains a matter of public interest
Did anyone ever tell Moores, that nobody likes a know-it-all? (that includes his Conservative colleagues)
Rob.. someone around here has to keep his eyes open but still nobody answers the more direct questions and indeed, you will find that much of what I'm supposed to have written, I may never have written at all and it could be someone else's comment.
Life is so unfair don't you agree?
Forget about him gentlemen he is YESTERDAYS MAN - he can't seem to handle it, bless him!
I just found the following comment from John on Simon-the-snide's blog - so he did get an answer lol
"Simon, Mr Bayford has not spoken to me since early November.
As for Mr Hart, I have not asked him for anything.
Is there a vacancy then Simon?
Sorry to disappoint you, good try though"
I would have to say I found your relaunch easy to find Mike.
Whether your analysis is worth finding is a different matter.
Following your comments through, however, presumably your administration will now be adding extra resources to scrutiny; in addition to the other areas where I hear you are seeking increased spending when times are tight.
I shall await your budget plans with real interest; and be ready for real debate on the issues which affect households across the island.
Welcome back. TTFN
Now Chris Wells is a gentleman; unlike Moores, who seems to need visit a real Doctor?
Jez I also noticed that John had answered Moores, but I don't think the so-called Doctor is playing with a full deck!
I think Mike's analysis is bang-on, and I find Moores's repeated criticism of others for not answering the question he has put quite laughable. He is the local (self-appointed) master of spin and issue-avoidance - when he is the subject of scrutiny of course.
Simon a very direct question that I have already asked you on several other occasions: Why did the Conservative cabinet not follow the advice of the council’s head of finance and determine the Pleasurama development agreement?
I keep chasing you over this one because I think it is the largest single avoidable liability that the new administration has take over and the information would be useful when I tackle them over how they are going to deal with it.
I am asking you here because it much more unusual for a cabinet to act against this type of advice than it would be for individual councillors to try and enhance their position.
