Quite Interesting,

Well I was going to write a blog about < Censored > but thought better of it.  So instead I am going to mention < Censored > and how he < Censored > oops!.  In addition to this < Censored >  also allegedly said < Censored >.
So there you have it I cant mention < Censored > in case < Censored > gets offended on someone elses behalf.  I cant mention  < Censored > in case I get taken to Standards. Furthermore < Censored > the advice I received from  < Censored >
makes it quite clear that if I < Censored > or < Censored > I would be < Censored > or maybe even < Censored >  whatever happens I will keep blogging but try to avoid < Censored > or < Censored >
In the meantime one of the replies to a previous post appears to have made a death threat against me referring to me as a dead man walking.
The question is do I act like a frustrated, dried up old git or a constipated old fart ! and go running to the Police, Google and everyone else to make a formal complaint and demand action against the anonymous poster or do I take it as idiosyncratic use of the English language and ignore it.
Discuss.

Meanwhile over on Facebook < Censored > who obviously has far to much time on his hands has started an anti Mike Harrison page and is actively encouraging people to ‘flame’ me by publishing my home address, telephone number and TDC email.
Not only does this contravene the Members Code of Conduct covering relations between Members also this is an potentially an offence under both the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, specifically Section 154 and also The Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

I have no problem with my contact details being available as I am an elected Councillor and as such they should be freely available.

Im going to take you to the standards for using the phrase "dried up old git or a constipated old fart" I find that deeply offensive....oh no I have a sense of humor and consider there is more important things in life to worry about. On the plus side considering this is a personal Blog and you have a disclaimer on the left stating the views expressed are yours and yours alone (may be the voices in your head as well) How can someone take you to the standards. You are not saying it is the views of the labour party, the electorate or anyone else. Its a case of PC gone mad... This country last time i checked was in favour of freedom of speach and being able to express your feelings, opinnons, thoughts etc.

Keep it up Cllr...Dont let the bastards get you down!

Mike this sort of comment from an anonymous blogger is hardly worth responding too. Most Cllrs work bl**dy hard and if only the some of the members of the public realised and instead of slagging off other people did something for thier communities it would make this world a better place.
Keep up the good work, and keep the red flag flying in Thanet hopefully ours will be up in Dover and Deal soon!

Could this attack on you be revenge for exposing the Homophobic comment that a Comservative for Westgate-On-Councillor made about a Birchington councillor? They never said sorry for that, in fact that attacted the victim, and the bigot got away with it because he is ill.

The words Bint and Love might be offensive to a minority of people , but homophobic and racists remarks are against the law, and you have a good record on race and gender relations!!

Surely if you have such contempt for women, as to describe or call a women a bint because you approve of talking to women in a condescending way, you have to expect some flak and frankly if you're that arrogant, lets hope a standards board helps you understand what is acceptable and what isn't

@Tony Flaig

Get away with you, all Mike is guilty of is using the language of hoary old dinosaurs. He doesn't attack all women with such ill-chosen words.

Anyway, you can talk: you've been showing contempt for the intelligence of others ever since you started blogging. For example, your attack on the Occupy protesters was nothing short of blinkered nonsense.

I think most women outside Mike's circle, would find being referred to, as love, patronising and bint just gutter language, why hold back, how about slag slapper tart etc.

Still maybe that's how things are in Labour circles

I think maybe you and Chris Wells ought to swap notes on how to show contempt for the electorate

This issue has caused some debate which is no bad thing. Rather than spend lots of public money on taking this to Standards I am happy to withdraw my complaint if Clr Harrison aplogises on his blog site for any offence he may have caused by using the phrase he did

I reckon thats a reasonable way forward

Does that include deleting the Facebook page against Harrison and the campaign for him to be thrown out the Council/Labour Party? If your letter appears in the Gazette will you issue a retraction? That would be reasonable.

James

The FB page goes in exchange for the apology as does the standards complaint. Can't do anything about gazette but will make clear i welcome Cllr action.

My concern is that public money is not spent on this in these austere times if at all possible

James Maskell said...

True, you can't put the genie back in the bottle, but you can ask that the Gazette sticks in a short comment from you taking back your complaint, a couple of sentences long, drawing a line under it. That way both of you will have taken back what was said.

Seems like Harrison has himself an agent!

hi james this approach is sensible and i am happy with it hope MH is ok

The sensible approach would have been speaking to Cllr Harrison directly, after all you have his home address and his phone number. That way you could of addressed your concerns directly.Instead you took it to the press and also Facebook probably in the hope of raising your own profile or take the heat of the fact of your continuing friendship of a convicted sex offender, now your plan is back firing because there is more support for Cllr Harrison than you antcipated and the spotlight has been thrown back on your own conduct and past (and lets be honest your past is rather questionable)

Who the f*** is James Maskell, more to the point who cares what he/she thinks?

Mr Drivers actions, in my humble opinion have been shocking. To embark upon what can only be described as a hate campaign via facebook shows a level of intelligence I'd expect from a guest on the Jeremy Kyle show. This actually borders upon sinister activity considering that Mr Drivers close friend is a convicted paedophile..convited, imprisoned for ''internet grooming'' offences. One has to wonder.

Tony Flaig must pass for the biggest hypocrite in Thanet. His views are laughably incredible. Sad thing is, I think he's beginning to believe the rubbish he writes.

Against Standards Boards because Labour introduced them, but in favour of them when a Labour Councillor is threatened with same. Dishes out obnoxious insults to public sector workers and anyone else who crosses his bigoted take on life, then criticises what a Labour Councillor has said. He is not worth giving the time of day to. Stick with your cat and your family, Liberal democrat voice.
